Cutters Welcomes new travel program leadership!

WELCOME NEW TRAVEL PROGRAM STAFF!

CUTTERS SOCCER CLUB IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE GONZALO SANCHEZ AS OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF COACHING, ALY ELLIOTT AS ASSISTANT DOC, AND CORBIN CALVERT AS JR CUTTERS COORDINATOR.

GONZALO SANCHEZ

Gonzalo started playing soccer at the age of 4 on Kicks for Kids. He then joined Cutters as a player in the Community rec program. He made the move around 9 years old to play with the Cutters travel team where he continued to play competitively through U19. He also played high school soccer at Bloomington North.

After graduating, Gonzalo immediately went into coaching as he knew he still wanted to be involved around the game. He coached several seasons with Jr Cutters until he decided to move up to older age groups. Gonzalo continued his coaching career as head coach at Edgewood High School for 5 seasons before taking the head coaching position at Bloomington North. Gonzalo has done youth camps and school visits during his tenure at North in an effort to spread interest in the sport he loves. During all this time coaching he has continued playing in many leagues locally and even Sunday league in Columbus.

Gonzalo would like to share this note with the club: “My life has always revolved around soccer so to have this opportunity to make a career out of it is something I’m very excited about. I’ve coached players of many skill levels from beginners to players who play in ODP and the highest division of GLC. Cutters has always been a special club to me, and I am confident in my ability to develop players and teams. My goal as the Cutters DOC is to develop players and teams that are technical and understand the game to be able to adapt and work towards competing at a high level. I want to have a fun and challenging environment where players learn about soccer and take many of the skills learned into their life.  The soccer community in Bloomington is vast and I look forward to working with our excellent coaching staff to make this club and community proud.”

ALY ELLIOTT

Aly is a lifelong soccer player and passionate coach whose love for the game was inspired by her father’s deep involvement in playing and coaching. She began playing at a competitive level as a young girl and continues to enjoy playing still. She began coaching youth teams as a teenager and continues to dedicate herself to developing players at all levels. She currently holds a USSF C license and is pursuing her B license, while also expanding her coaching education through programs with Chelsea FC (England) and FC Barcelona (Spain).

At Indiana ODP, Aly coaches elite players on both the girls’ and boys’ sides, contributing at the state, regional, and interregional levels. She has also had the privilege of coaching and evaluating at the US Technical Championships. She will use her scouting certifications and experience to guide player placement and evaluations, helping Cutters kids develop into well-rounded, high-quality athletes. Passionate about using soccer as a tool for connection, she supports refugee youth through outreach programs, helping them acclimate to life in a new country through the shared language of the beautiful game.

Beyond the pitch, Aly is an exhibiting artist, author, and photographer. She lives in Bloomington with her husband and their six children, where she continues to share her love for sport, creativity, and community.

CORBIN CALVERT

Corbin Calvert has been coaching soccer for the last 15 years. Corbin was formerly the head coach for the Boys Bloomington High School South soccer team where they came off our best ever season with a 20-2 record and State Runners Up.  He is currently coaching the boys U14 Alliance team and the U14 Cutters Red Team. Corbin holds D and E Licenses and has certifications in goalie coaching. I have coached all ages from 4 years old to 18 years old.

A note from Corbin: “My desire to come back and coach the Junior Cutters program is to get back to the roots of soccer in Bloomington. I think that the Junior Cutters program is our most valuable program, and I want to bring all of the knowledge that was bestowed upon me to future coaches and soccer players. I am very excited for this new position and am very grateful to Cutters for bringing me back into this role.”
